Be Meet Set

Be Meet Set creates awareness on issues of street harassment, female genital mutilation, as well as celebrates Egyptian women’s inspirational stories on a local and worldwide scale. The language of the magazine reaches all audiences as it avoids “preaching the converted”, by using friendly vocabulary rather than sophisticated preachy terminology, and an application of vernacular street visual language.

‘BeMeet Set’ is an Egyptian magazine empowering girls and women, playing off the vernacular visual culture of the streets of Egypt. Newsprint was chosen as a medium for this magazine as it has a cultural advantage of reaching a broader audience, as newsletters are reused in Egypt for everyday uses like food wrapping, placemats, padding drawers and patching up glass windows.
